THE COMPANYThe ReSource Institute for Low Entropy Systems is establishing a company in Mexico, Sistemas Tierra, to economically and efficiently manufacture and sell composting toilets and greywater systems. Cost will match individual's ability to pay. Quality will meet the highest standards for health and hygiene; environmental protection through zero pollution discharge; and the user's desire for an odorless, attractive, and low-maintenance bathroom. The ReSource Institute will provide technical assistance and investors to get Sistemas Tierra started. ReSource will have an equity share in the Company and take a direct role in its strategic planning. The Company will manufacture and sell composting toilets and greywater recycling systems. The composting toilets will be manufactured using recycled high density polyethylene in Mexico. Parts such as inspection doors and fans will be outsourced to small producers, fostered by ReSource and its local counterparts. Profits will be distributed to shareholders or reinvested in the Company, as determined by its Board of Directors. Markets will be divided by regions; targeted by considerations such as the availability of water and the cost of sewering infrastructure and septic tank construction. A Mexican non-profit organization will be established to complement the Company's work. It will coordinate networks of micro-enterprises supplying parts; implement and develop training and educational programs; support workers' cooperatives; support loan funds; and influence regulatory policy. Meanwhile, ReSource will continue to work with communities in Mexico to build and maintain composting toilet and greywater recycling systems on-site. We are currently working in Yucatan, Michoacan, and Quintana Roo on ecological education and sanitation programs. Resources
